Hi All,

The upstairs laptop vending machine is currently not working. Margie is aware of the issue and is working to fix it.

Please direct students to the vending machine located in the Learning Commons.

I will provide an update here when it's fixed.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Laptop Vending Machine Issues

Hi Reference Team!

I worked yesterday and both the laptop vending machines were not working properly.

Chris informed me a few minutes ago that they are still having intermittent issues.

If the machine is having issues, it will show this as the display:
Display of vending machine (excuse my reflection!)

If a student needs to return their laptop and the screen looks like above, please let Chris know as he can make sure that the student does not get fined.

Please let Chris, Margie, or me know if you have any questions!

Thanks!

Update Concerning Tarleton Wireless Network

Beginning on Monday, June 13th, 2016, most Tarleton wireless users will be asked to accept a new server certificate for the Texans-NTNET wireless network.

What to expect when connecting to Texans-NTNET
  • Your phone/tablet/laptop may prompt you to trust the new server certificate
  • Once trusted, the new server certificate will be stored on your device. Subsequent Texans-NTNET wireless connections will occur automatically

Here is the contact information for the Help Desk: 254.968.9885, option 1 or email helpdesk@tarleton.edu

You may also send users to the Tech Spot for more assistance.

Out of Order Signs on Laptop Vending Machines

Hi Reference Team!

Please refrain from placing Out of Order signs on the Laptop Vending Machines unless you first submit a Systems Work Request or at the very least post on here explaining the situation.

There were signs on the machines when I came in this morning and when Chris called to ask me why, I did not have an answer for him. When he looked at the machines, they were operational.

Submitting a Systems Work Request helps expedite the repair process and also helps answer any questions that someone may have.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all about the process.

Thank you!

Christy

Texans-Guest Network

Hi Reference Team!

We now have a guest wireless network called Texans-Guest which allows our guest users to sign up for an account in order to use our WIFI on their laptop/mobile devices while on campus.

This is what the user should see on their laptop/device.
NOTE: The guest user can not be affiliated with Tarleton or have a Tarleton email address. They must also submit a valid email address and mobile phone number to register for an account.

Once the user has created an account, it is good for 3 days; however, they must sign in every 24 hours for the account to remain active. After the 3 days, they will need to request another guest account.

NOTE: ITS monitors the request but guests may not have immediate access during "odd" hours such as late nights and weekends. Please make sure that the user is aware; they are welcome to use our computers for Internet access via our Guest Pass system if they do not receive an account for the WIFI immediately.

The user will need to open a web browser in order to access this login screen.
The user will need to select "Request a Guest Account" if they do not have one already.

All of the fields are required in order to submit a request for a Guest Account.

There will be limited access to campus resources through this network; however, the users should have full access to the library databases.

Please report any issues you encounter with database access to Tracy.

Also, please contact Tracy, the Systems Office, or me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Christy
