Writing Center Hours in Library Learning Commons

Email from Dr. Ben Sword to Ms. Donna Savage

I think we have a schedule to at least start the semester. A few of our tutors are new, so they’re not ready to tutor on their own yet. They are still training and observing. So we certainly can’t send them over to the Library alone nor can we leave them alone here. At least for the first few weeks of the semester.

So what we can do right now is:
  • Monday through Thursday: 10:00-12:00
  • Friday: 11:00-12:00 and 1:00-3:00.
Again, hopefully we can expand that as the semester progresses, but we’re pretty thin at a number of times throughout the day here.

Printer/Copier Paper Logs

Hello Reference Desk Team,

The Printer and Copier paper reams will now be housed in the copy area cabinets; this means the new copy area near tech spot, periodicals copy area, and the upper level copy area. In order to keep track of the reams being used in the printers/copiers, we have created a log. If you fill a printer or copier, simply right the date and how many reams. There are different logs for different machines and the logs are marked as such. The logs will be on the inside doors of the cabinets containing the reams of paper. The shelves have been labeled, so that you know which reams are for printers and for copiers.

We hope this information is helpful.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask anyone from the Reference Department (Jodie, Christy, or Crystal) for help.

Dr. Gandhi's PowerPoint Assignment

Dr. Gandhi, a Nursing faculty member, contacted me today to see if the library staff could assist her students with creating PowerPoint presentations. She said that several of her students do not have experience using PowerPoint so they would need help with the program.

I gave her my contact information but told her that anyone at the Reference Desk could assist students when they come in for help.

Here's the course number: MDLS 1100

She said to expect them within the next week or so.

That's all of the information I have at this time; I'll update this post if I learn more.

Education Planner

Hello Reference Desk Team!

Several new students have come in today asking for assistance with their Education Planner assignment.

Their assignment is to visit the Education Planner website, complete the Student Self-Assessments, and print their results.

Here is the link to the site:
www.educationplanner.org

There will be a Student tab at the top of the page that will have a drop-down box when you hover over the tab (see image below). In the drop-down box, they will need to select "Self-Assessments" and take the assessments listed on the page.

The students have been asking where the "Self-Assessments" link is and how to print the results.
