Hey Katie, Isaac, Ashleigh, & Sarah,

I just wanted to let you all know that Christy and Jodie will both be out this Friday. Have no fear, I will be here (ha that rhymed). If I'm not out at the desk, I'll be in my office. Printing

Chris has just informed me that CS Gold is currently down.

What this means to the user is if they are printing using Texan Bucks then they cannot print at the moment.

Print jobs will print if the user is using the $5.00 that was given to them at the beginning of the semester.

Praise for the G.A.'s

I just wanted to say thank you to both Katie and Isaac. The library, especially the Learning Commons, looked great this morning when I came in!  Thank you for putting in some extra effort with your nightly tasks, it truly is very helpful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Upper Level Stapler

The stapler in the upper level copy room keeps jamming so I have decided to replace it. The supply closet didn't have a new stapler but I found one on the Non-Inventory shelves that worked when I did several test staples.

Hopefully it will work for awhile, or at least be a good stop-gap until new staplers are in the supply closet:  :)

New B/W Printer

In case you haven't noticed, we have a new B/W printer in the Learning Commons Copy Center. It has 5 trays for paper instead of 4 and takes a different toner cartridge. Christy, Jodie, or I (Crystal) can show you the new features, if you'd like a run through. Kay has ordered cartridges for it and will let us know the inventory number and such. All of this being said, there is now an extra toner cartridge due to the printer switch up. It is pretty full and since it had already been checked out, I have it stashed in my office on the bottom shelf of the tall brown cabinet in the corner. When one of the other B/W printers (Upper, Lower, Periodicals) needs to be replaced, please use the one in my office first. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact anyone in the reference department.

Card swipe machine out of order

The card swipe machine connected to the black and white printer located near the coffee shop stopped working last night (3/4/15). The green power button is on, but the screen is blank and will not respond to card swipe or when the screen is touched. I checked the cords to make sure they had not gotten unplugged and tried turning the machine off and on, but nothing happened. I sent in a systems work request to notify them of the problem. Until it is fixed, students will have to use the periodicals printer or the printer upstairs.

Chris has one laptop upstairs.

Color Printer on the Fritz

Yesterday, Isaac and I replaced the black cartridge in the color printer. Just after replacing it, a student released a print job. The print job had some major streaking. I eventually got Chris involved to look at the printer. We thought the streaking had stopped or at the very least come to a minimum, where it wasn't noticeable. Well, this morning (3/3) another student release a color print job and it was streaked all over. I have emailed Kay and hopefully we will have a new cartridge soon. Until then, I have directing students to release their color print jobs in Math 226A. I have place an Out Of Order sign on the pharos kiosk, so hopefully students won't use the color printer. Make sure to let students know that they don't have to resend their color print job that it is in the color que and they can release it at Math 226A just like they can here in the library.
