Computer Identification Sheet

I wanted to share this with everyone, as I was reminded of it this morning. To make things easier when submitting a Systems Work Request, Systems has created a Computer Identification Sheet; this way we don't have to crawl under the desk to find some of the computer numbers or try to explain a location when a number has been picked off the computer.

You can find this sheet in the back of the planner at the Reference desk. There is a key identifying the location and then a number given to each computer. If you wanted to report one of the cloud stations, that would be 1C and then the number associated with that specific computer on the sheet. I realize this was created a while back, but as we have made some changes as of late, it was easy to forget. If you have any questions, Chris was very helpful in answering mine this morning and I'm sure he would be happy to answer anymore you may have.

Broken laptop

Just FYI

When a student checked out a laptop last night, she found that the security device on the laptop was partially unattached. She had the laptop discharged at circulation, but we returned it to the vending machine (in slot 8) to ensure that she wouldn't be fined. I put in a systems work request so it should be getting taken care of. Just wanted to let everyone know in case it is checked out before it is taken to be fixed tomorrow.

Hole punch from Main Floor Copy Center

Just FYI: The hole punch from the Main Floor Copy Center was reported as being broken today. I put it on Kay's desk and reported it to her - I wasn't sure if we already had replacements that could be used instead. In the meantime, I know there are hole punches in other areas (the Periodicals printing area, the upstairs printing room) that students could use instead.

EDIT: Kay emailed me and let me know where the replacement hole punches are, so I grabbed one and put it in the Copy Center.

It's Back.....

The toner has been replaced in the new B/W printer and is now fully operational.

I have been reassured by Kay that the toner for the color printer should be here tomorrow.

Printer Toner Alert

Good Morning,

I just wanted to let you all know that we need to keep an eye on the new B/W printer on the main floor. It is showing less than 10% at this point and several people have obviously printed this morning. I believe Kay has been asked to order a new toner cartridge, as it takes a different cartridge, but I'm not sure when they will come in. If it runs out of toner before the cartridge comes in, direct users to other printers and place and "out of order" sign on the device. You may want to alert Systems that we are just waiting on toner, if you put the sign on the printer.

The color printer is still very low as well. The toner for the color printer should be in anytime this week. Again, if users are not happy with their print jobs, put an "out of order" sign on the printer until the new toner comes in and advise users of the color printer in Math 226.

I suspect we should make it through the next few days okay, but you just never know during this time of year. Thanks for all you do! :)

Laptop

Just a quick note:

Chris has just informed me that he will have one of the laptops upstairs tonight.

Color Printer Watch

First, the color printer is working just fine. :) Second, we had a young lady print a large color document on Monday or Tuesday evening causing the ink levels to drop immensely and I just saw a another student printing another large color document. I changed the Yellow and Cyan on Monday morning and they are already low (1/3 down). Magenta and black are what we need to be keeping an eye on. Magenta already has a caution triangle, but I think we will make it until the replacements come in. Kay ordered cartridges on Monday, so they may be in tomorrow, but more likely next week. So far, the pictures are coming out okay, with no complaints.

Thank you,
Crystal
