Laptops

Wanted to let those who close know that Chris called this afternoon and he has 3 laptops in his office for repair.
 


Toner Tracking Sheets

Good Afternoon,

We have created a new way to track when toner is changed at the different printers. You will find (soon) a Toner Tracking Sheet at the main, upper, and lower level reference desks in a plastic sheet protector. When you replace a cartridge, you need to mark the following on the the tracking sheet:
  • Date
  • Initials
  • Black/White or Color
  • Any notes you want to add about changing the cartridge. For example, replaced cartridge and the printer didn't read read the cartridge as working. Had to check out a second cartridge for replacement.
We are hoping this will help us all know how often cartridges are being changed out and if there have been any issues with cartridges. Remember, if a printer says "low ink", remove the cartridge, shake it, and put the cartridge back in the printer; this will sometimes make the cartridge last longer. Also, remember to check the ink levels before replacing the cartridge. Just because the printer tells you the ink is low doesn't mean it is empty. We want to get as much out of the cartridge as possible. If you are uncertain how to replace a cartridge, please feel free to ask me. I am also creating a guide on how to change toner cartridges, so be looking out for that helpful guide.

Periodicals Printer

Just a heads up...

As I mentioned before, the Periodicals printers has been jamming on occasion. I haven't been filling it all of the way up. This morning, Trudy went to put 2 reams in and then realized that we weren't supposed to and had already opened the 2 reams; they are in the cabinet to the left. 1 ream is opened and out of the wrapping the other is just opened. Please use these reams first, but don't log them, as Trudy had already logged them.

Broken chair

Sorry this posting is so late, I didn't remember till early this morning. A screw has come out of one of the chairs in the ref area and has been placed in work area so that it can be fixed. Didn't want anyone opening or closing to freak out.

Guest Printing

I apologize if everyone already knew this but I wasn't aware until this came up while I was on the desk today.

Guest Printers are not installed on all of the computers on the main floor. Chris is working on getting them reinstalled on all computers but for now, only the six computers closest to the Reference Desk are available for Guest Printing.

I'm not sure how long it will be before all the computers have Guest Printing again.

Laptop

I wanted to let everyone know that Chris is working on one of the laptops from the vending machine up in his office. I didn't want the person closing to freak out if there was a hole where the laptop goes into the machine.

Pencils

Just a heads-up, I sent out an email requesting more pencils. We keep a stash of pencils at the reference desk in the top drawer. If anyone comes up to the desk with pencils, please place them in the clear container located in the back of the top drawer (there are already a few pencils in the container, so you'll know which one). :) I believe the students really appreciate any help they can get, when it comes to school supplies.
